- My paper will describe my experiences in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi while on a service trip working for Habitat for Humanity during my senior year of high school.
- The exigence for my paper is that I feel more college students should become more involved with community service, because there are so many people who need some sort of help, and would love to simply interact with the people who give their time to help them. By doing community service, we (college students) can learn the true meaning of satisfaction while helping so many people who are so grateful for all the help they receive. After going on my trip to Mississippi, I have become more involved in community service, and I love every minute I spend doing it.
- The purpose for my narrative will be to both supply information and provide an example. I will supply information about working on a project with an organization like Habitat for Humanity and all the opportunities a service trip can provide. By telling my own story, I will be providing an example of what a service trip is like, and give my opinions about doing service.
- The audience I have in mind for my narrative is the population of students at Penn State who have never been involved in service before and do not understand all the positive aspects of doing service. Hopefully, if a student were to read my paper, he/she would look into doing service and possibly become involved with doing service regularly.
